flickering shadow
in front of me. I look up…
wah? helicopter!
So that was pretty much what happened while I was on my way to work: I saw a flickering shadow travel on the ground, and when I looked up it was a helicopter. I know it sounds less than amazing, but this was the first time that I’ve seen a real-life shadow of a helicopter.
Anyway even though I call it work, it isn’t a real job. And people are right… 3 hours a week does not count as a job. Anyway, it’s fun enough. What else happened? Oh. On my way back from work, I lost my pair of sunglasses (sunnies as they call ‘em in Aussieland). I was hurriedly trying to catch the train at Wellesley, but bdeemps they fell off with a clatter into the crack.
On the way back, I tried to get through Hellogoodbye’s ZOMBIES! ALIENS! VAMPIRES! DINOSAURS!. It’s… well, to be expected, somewhat. It’s power pop (though download lists them as “indie”.. oh, I’ll have to rant later about the term “indie”.. I’m starting to not like it anymore) and like good pop, it’s catchy. Anyway, I couldn’t. Our empty car stopped with a substantial number of people waiting outside. I stepped aside from my comfortable place (near the door) holding the pole to let other people have access. After I did all this, a woman chooses to take exactly what used to be my place, leaving me with nothing to grab onto (you who know me know that I am not a very big person), leaving me sandwiched in the subway doors area and frustrated. That, and she had her boyfriend standing behind her. So there I was: trying to find my balance while standing next to an annoying couple who had taken my pole. As if I’d want to share that pole anyway! But I didn’t have a choice; one sharp turn and I’d be on my face. Several times I tried to make it known, so I’m pretty sure they had a realization of what was going on. They’d all be innocent, like losing my balance, and thrusting my arm past her head (missing it only by inches) to hit the area above the clear glass/plexiglass part. Yeah whatever that was over…
Oh, the best part of my day had to be seeing my lovely girlfriend after work (but before the couple, sadly enough) and getting (free) ice cream at Greg’s. The Creme Fraiche is pretty good… apparently made of sour cream. You can taste it, but I wouldn’t go for a scoop. What was amazing was the cherry vanilla. DELICIOUS. Definitely my flavour of the summer.
I also ran into someone who was wearing a Hush Sound T-shirt. I stopped her and was like “Wow. Did you go to the concert on Monday?” We broke into a bit of conversation. Yeah, I’m kind of mad that I found out about the concert two days after it happened (but I had class that day anyway so whatevs). But it’s awesome to just stop random people in the street and ask them about their shirts.
